Tonight's
meeting was dragged out for an exceptionally long time because some
board members can't stop asking questions that were just asked, or about
topics that have already been answered. Sharing confidential
information about other employees (massive liability?) when you're only
in the township one day a month for a few hours, why should a trustees
opinion be considered regarding any important matters that happen at the
township office if they're not there, themselves? It isn't a trustees
job to interfere with the daily operations of the township. They come to
a meeting once a month and vote on action items on the agenda, nothing
more, and to expect them to have an informed understanding of the
business matters at the township office is ridiculous.
-People
mad over taxes going up, but if you can afford a 200k house I imagine an
extra $40 a year (for the 1.5 milage) is pocket change? But with
inflation going into overdrive, EVERYTHING is getting more expensive and
the cost of maintaining the cogs in the machine is creeping ever
higher. This isn't a clever ploy to steal your hard earned tax dollars, I
can assure you their budgets have remained the same since they started
(much to the chagrin of the county treasurer and clerk, who requested a
raise from 48k/yr to 61k/yr, but were denied by the board).
-Discussions
about the water loop they've been trying to get started for a while?
There is one large water main running from the casino and if that broke,
everybody would be without water for a while... so a water loop would
not only remedy that situation but allow other businesses an easier time
moving into the community if they choose to do so.
-Road
commissioner (Chris?) was back, we've got 35 lift stations in Emmett,
many of them are 40+ years old. Perhaps put some money towards better
upkeep of those things, maybe assess which ones aren't worth repairing
but just get a whole new one?
-There will be another board
meeting on April 28th at 6:30 pm to vote on a resolution to move forward
with the water main and decide on ballot language for the upcoming
elections later this year.
-Vote of resolution for the DDA, which
was passed by everybody. Deb will be looking to appoint 8-11 business
owners to this board to oversee efforts towards improving the community.
-A discussion regarding the implementation of a plastic or
metal water main for the township. I believe the general consensus was
that we want to use plastic, but not to set a precedent for future
installations. The engineer from CEI was arguing that we needed to use
metal when plastic was the better option, less expensive and easier to
get.
-Leanor Brookes had some questions regarding Single Tree and
Bradford road flooding? Division as well? But Deb had already taken
initiative and is already looking into a solution.
