Halloween Trick hours have been set for this year, have your buckets of candy ready for grabby hands on Monday, Oct 31st from 5pm to 8pm.

Some effort to spend more money from the Parks Millage, which was voted in by taxpayers. It's a 5 year milage, which, if we don't spend some of the money towards our stated goals then we don't get next years stipend, so it's in our best interest to make the most of those funds while we have them. They're putting that money on a recreational plan for parks, which you have to have in place in order to apply for DNR grants which would further benefit our parks.

All absentee ballot applications that had been turned in previously were sent out on sept 29th. If you would still like an absentee ballot you can come to teh township office (bring your ID!).

The last few meetings a few of the trustees have voiced outrage in regards to a $195 monthly payment for a magazine ad advertising Emmett Township, inciting Supervisor Belles to provide an excerpt on the benefits of such. The ad was purchased as a 6 month trial several months ago (how much longer til the trial is up?) and is a good benefit to the township for the cost.

There has been some efforts being made to set up an ordinance for solar energy systems, the township is spending a lot of time to make sure that the draft is clear and strong. There will be zoning board meetings on Oct 25th at 5pm at the township.

Because the board members are concerned about how much is being spent at the township, Supervisor Belles also made a motion to retire the use of several of the phones being used in the office (because they're not being used) which costs taxpayers an addition $440/mo. Last month they weren't interested in learning about it, and so it was tabled until this month, which they ultimately decided to let Supervisor Belles have full control over dealing with the situation.

Actions are being taken involving the demolition of 47 W Alden ave. and some discussion regarding the use of money gained from the marijuana businesses.

Trustee Mead made a motion to get rid of AccessVision (the service which records and uploads videos of each meeting onto the website).Dick Brown supported it but it was denied by everybody else. Another motion was made to keep it getting full approval including Mead and Brown.

an inquiry into considering extending the week from 4 to 4.5 or 5 days a week, which was remarked that it's not currently in the budget.

A group of residents asked the supervisor to look into emergency sirens. Trustee Mead shot it down and brought in a radio to show people that they could purchase it instead. There was a vote held and the supervisor was the only yes vote, so the topic was retired. As a short aside, I was shocked at the quickness with which this was shot down, seems like everything else gets dragged out months on end bc nobody could be bothered to do the reading or understand what's going on but the second township residents have a request, they're coming to the township for help and it's just shut down "no this is stupid." I'd like to think the needs of your constituents comes first, and when they come to you looking for a solution it isn't immediately "no just buy a radio you nerds." Just sayin'.
