Tonight's board meeting was... pretty bleak, not a whole lot to go over, really.
-Deb
represented the township at the opening ceremony today for the Wall of
Healing, giving a speech to honor those that have fought for our country
during the Vietnam War.
-Jim Mead was absent for this meeting,
but Dick Brown took his place by voting no on the check register--
action item. Why? Even he doesn't know. He says he didn't actually take
the time to read over any of the paperwork sent to him, so he didn't
know anything about what was going on during the meeting. Glad to know
that our elected officials aren't taking 15 minutes out of their day to
review what it is they're even supposed to be voting on during the board
meetings. Dick Brown doesn't have a job, so he's got plenty of time to
sit at home and review these documents that Deb makes sure to send w
ample time for review. He's just showing up for the paycheck.
-
There were two individuals who called in recently to commend the
excellent job done by our township's Code Compliance Officer, Josh
Mosley regarding how well he's cleaned up their neighborhoods. They
really noticed the difference and wanted it to be known that his work is
appreciated. One resident called from the Brownlee Park area and
another from the Mill street/Maxwell area.
-Absentee ballots
are available at the Township office if you're interested or didn't
receive one in the mail, the Township is also looking for anybody
interested in becoming an election inspector for the upcoming midterms,
which will be on August 2nd, a Tuesday. Look for Tracy, Brandie or Missy
at the office if interested in learning about the process.
-For
the next 3-4 days there is the Wall that Heals Vietnam Memorial at the
Harper Creek High School, be sure to check it out and honor our
veterans!
-Several zoning issues that needed to be addressed,
the lot across from Zaharions, the empty lot across from the shut down
Burger King, next to Family Dollar, and one last one on a strip near the
highway... By Rook st and Raymond Rd that can't be built on, anyway?
All were voted on and will be dealt w hopefully soon.
-Tim
White was approved to fill the vacancy left on the Board of Review.
Chris Dopp was also approved to stay on as our professional consultant
for water and sewer capital improvements. He has been working on the
Water Loop project and informed us that it is making plenty of progress.
-For
any residents having trouble with property taxes or paying utilities...
you can consult MIHAF? there isn't a website or a link listed, but I
imagine you can Google it?
